Operation Teapot Rigids

Operation Teapot:  Rigids

Together with three other VFX artists, we are challenging ourselves to complete a 1-to-1 recreation of a Cold War era bomb test.

Part of my responsibilities were all the rigid body simulations: the house, the car, and the telephone poles.

This was my first time trying to guide a simulation to be an exact match with existing footage. My biggest take away is that everyone needs experience in animation because you WILL have to move something by hand.

Utility poles and car models are 3rd party assets. I am responsible for all other aspects. Rendered in Unreal Engine 5.

The reference that I am matching is footage from Operation Teapot, a 1955 atomic bomb test.
